Tech Helpers for a Healthier You in 2011
A post on Testing It Up shared what is perhaps an annual thing for most people: the top New Year’s Resolution for 2011 is to lose weight. Okay, so I will have to admit that the reason that post caught my fancy is that — losing weight is my resolution for the New Year too!
The countless hours of alternately sitting in class and facing my laptop doing research work – and the feasts I couldn’t help but indulge in over the holidays – are definitely making their mark on my waistline, and I really need to do something about it.
Losing weight is never easy, but there are gadgets and tools that can help fledgling weight watchers like me reach our goals. A feature on The Washington Post shared some of these techie helpers.
Did you just invest in an iPhone? Then make it your health buddy! There are a number of health care and fitness programs that are waiting to be discovered in the iTunes App Store. The most popular, according to the Post, is Lose It!, a free calorie counter that will allow you to input your exercise regimen, as well as what you’ve eaten, in order to help you lose weight.
But what if you don’t have an iPhone? An eBook version, for the Kindle, of Lose It! was released late last month.
The Xbox 360, the PlayStation, and the Wii can also be turned into health buddies. The Xbox 360 has an add-on called Kinect, while the PlayStation has Move.
